Hose Assembly Technician
Job Description
The mission of the position is to perform hose assembly production related objectives in a timely and cost-effective manner. These objectives include but are not limited to hose assembly, testing of products, packing, safety, quality, cost and delivery. This position insures safe operation, quality, compliance, training, equipment reliability and employee engagement.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Tasks:
• assume responsibility for the assembly and testing of products
• adhere to all ContiTech policies and procedures as laid out in the company handbook
• follow regular production plan to meet customer's product delivery requirements
• read, interpret and follow basic diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble equipment and products
• utilize hand held tools such as a hand held screw and drill gun and/or power tools such as grinders, sandblasters, drills and various types of saws
• maintain inventory of product in work stations
• perform quality work checks to insure the product meets quality standards
• identify product defects and complete appropriate documentation when defects are identified
• rework and/or repair assembled equipment and products according to engineering specification changes
• perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures
• maintain a clean and safe work area, ensuring rigorous housekeeping standards are maintained
• adhere to and carry out all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements as outlined in the Company Policies
• carry out any reasonable task as requested by the production team lead or production manager
Qualifications
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED required
• Minimum 1+year of experience in small batch assembly production shop or manufacturing environment, preferably in flexible fluid transfer manufacturing
• Basic English written and communication skills are required
• Ability to measure accurately, pass the ruler test
• Ability to understand materials, processes & procedures
• Ability to operate High and Low-Pressure Pumps, Hydrostatic Pumps, High Torque Wrenches, Overhead Cranes, Jib Cranes, Forklifts, and Rigging
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools and measuring devices such as height gauges, adjustable parallels, calipers and pressure gauges
• Ability to use personal computer and/or workstation
• Valid driver license and other requirements of company’s driving policy required when driving company vehicle or using personal vehicle on company business;
• Demonstrates good interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills
Work Environment: Shop environment. Works in confined workspaces. Frequent exposure to possible shop hazards including heavy equipment, chemicals, flash burns, UV exposure, hot parts, eye injuries, high pressure and high noise levels. 90% of time is spent on the shop floor or in outdoor areas.
Personal requirements to be fulfilled by job holder:
Team player but able to work on own initiative, ability to meet deadlines even under pressure, reliability, good communicator, strong attention to detail, assemble or fabricate mechanical parts, pieces or products using a variety of hand held and/or power tools.
Physical Demands:
Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, push, pull, grasp, or reach with hands and arms and talk or hear and perform repetitive motions. Dexterity of hands to perform the tasks required of the position. Regularly lift and/or move moderate to heavy objects up to 60 lbs, occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 lbs. Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, climb, crouch or crawl. Regularly stand and walk for extended periods of time. Sight in order to be aware of hazards and dangers found in the nature of the work.
