Central Laboratory Technician
Job Description
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
- Operate various laboratory equipment and perform tests using written procedures, specifications, and test methods.
- Meticulously document all aspects of test projects including notes, calculations and other relevant detail.
- Assist with routine user-level equipment maintenance and calibration.
- Review complex test plans and related specifications and test methods and determine appropriate timeline and critical path to fulfill all requirements.
- Under the supervision of the project manager, coordinate all test activities for assigned projects. May include complex long-term projects 3-6 months to complete.
- Effectively manage project workload to meet timing expectations.
- Document weekly updates for all long-term projects and participate in project review meetings as needed.
- Continuously monitor and, as appropriate, report the status of equipment performance, maintenance issues, and inventory of consumable laboratory supplies.
- Assist with benchmark and research projects which are defined and assigned on a case-by-case basis.
- Assist with special projects such as customer complaints, multi-lab round robin, MSA, etc.
- Understand and assist with maintaining basic laboratory quality requirements including IATF 16949 and ISO 17025.
THE ENVIRONMENT

Applicants must be able to work in a manufacturing industrial environment and be able to wear personal protective equipment such as safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. The use of a respirator may be required for specific job departments.
Qualifications
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
- Two years of college-level training in mathematics and/or physical sciences or equivalent experience.
- Ability to plan and perform duties working from standard procedures, test methods and work instructions.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong software skills including MS Word and Excel.
- Specific experience and skill in using MAPPER preferred.
- High level of organizational skills and detail oriented.
- Strong analytical / mathematical skills
- Able to work in industrial manufacturing environment
- Excellent attendance record
- Able to multi-task and communicate well with others
- Must be able to work in the US without visa or other sponsorship
- Continental is not able to pay relocation expenses for this opportunity
